Psalm 84:11 - "For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right."(NLT)
As teens, we face a lot of tough stuff every day. There is gossip, temptation, and more. Even if you have the toughest skin, sometimes it feels thin as pressures mound.
God can protect us and give us the strength to get through these tough times. If we keep our eyes focused on Him, he provides us with the things we need. We just need to allow Him to intervene - even if we don't always understand what He is doing or why He is doing it.
Proverbs 3:6 - "Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take."(NLT)
Direction. Many ppl feel the pressure to make choices... There are so many questions that it can get difficult to know which direction to go in.
However, if you take a moment to focus on God and His Word, you can get some clarity on right and wrong. You can even get some direction on what His purpose for you may be. While the phrase has become a little cliche, it still works to ask, "What would Jesus do?"
Matthew 28:20- "Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."(NLT)
Some people think that being a Christian means you are completely oppressed by unreasonable rules. Yet, looking more closely at the Bible, many of the rules make our lives a little better.
Still, we are not perfect, and we often need to look to God for strength, because temptations can be strong, but Jesus assures us that He is there to give us that strength. He is there for us, even when we don't realize it.
1 John 1:9 - "But if we confess our sins to God, he can always be trusted to forgive us and take our sins away."(CEV)
Continuing on our discussion of talking to God about our troubles and our sin, 1 John reminds us once again that God is there to help us. In this passage, we are able to focus on the fact that we can trust God above all others.
Sometimes Christian teens are coping with problems that they do not feel comfortable sharing with others. Yet God listens and loves us no matter what. We know He values honesty and we know he offers forgiveness. We just need to trust in Him and tell him the things we hold deep inside.
Ephesians 5:16 - "These are evil times, so make every minute count." (CEV)
There are a lot of things that can distract us from our faith, and keeping focus can be difficult. Christian teens can sometimes lose focus and get bogged down in the daily routine. Yet, we only have a limited time on earth.
God wants us to make the most of our lives. Acts of love and kindness are great ways to make th most of th time you have.
James 3:2 - "Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way." (NLT)
There isn't a person tht hasn't made at least one mistake in his or her life. God knws tht we are an imperfect people, and tht is why He is able to forgive us for our indiscretions.
However, it doesn't mean that we should not try to make ourselves the best we can be in God's eyes. Spend some time this week to ask God to give you strength and self-control.
Matthew 3:2 - "Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near." (NLT)
Most Christian teens have made some pretty bad choices, and most Christians have sinned at some point in their lives. God is pretty forgiving, as long as we ask. Think of some things this week that you have done and ask God for forgiveness.
Then make a new commitment to do what you can to overcome the temptations and sin in your life.
Psalm 10:17 - "You listen to the longings of those who suffer. You offer them hope, and you pay attention to their cries for help."(CEV)
We all have tough times. We all have those moments when it feels like the world is against us. Suffering is part of the life of Christian teens, but God is always there to hear the cries of those who suffer.
When you are going through tough times, remember to turn your focus to God and allow Him to just listen.
1 Peter 1:13 - "So think clearly and exercise self-control. Look forward to the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world." (NLT)
The way you think really does affect the way you behave. One issuemany ppl have is exercising self-control.
There are temptations that abound, and it can be hard to keep your eyes focused on God. Focus your prayers this week on allowing God to give you strength to remain faithful, even in the most difficult situations.
Proverbs 3:5 - "With all your heart you must trust the LORD and not your own judgment." CEV
You're growing up, and, like many other ppl, you want to show how grown up you are by making some of your own decisions. However, don't forget to include God in making those choices. Even the oldest person should be looking to God for advice and direction in his or her life.
The more you ask God for help in the choices you make, the better and more rewarding your actions will be.
